Privacy
How BrainText collects, uses, and protects your information.
Last updated: 24 August 2026
BrainText is a daily brain-games service delivered over WhatsApp. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have.
BrainText is operated by AMARIA, a société par actions simplifiée registered in France (RCS Paris 908 714 330), with its registered office at 122 rue Amelot, 75011 Paris, France.
What we collect
- Your WhatsApp phone number — this is how we identify you and send replies.
- Your WhatsApp display name, as provided by WhatsApp when you message us.
- Gameplay data — answers you submit, scores, completion times, streaks, and which challenges you have played.
- Optional information you choose to give us, such as your university or school.
- Questions you submit if you choose to contribute your own puzzles.
We do not collect your contacts, your location, your message history with anyone else, or any payment information.
How we use it
- To run the games and reply to you in chat.
- To track your scores, streaks, and standing relative to other players.
- To personalise your experience, for example by referencing your university.
- To understand which puzzles work well so we can improve them.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
Messaging
BrainText is user-initiated. You message us to play, and we reply. Automated reminders and promotional broadcasts are disabled. You will not receive unsolicited messages from us.
To stop hearing from us entirely, send STOP or simply block the number in WhatsApp.
Where your data is stored
Gameplay and account data is stored in Google Sheets (Google LLC) and cached temporarily in Redis. Messages are delivered through the WhatsApp Business Platform, operated by Meta, and are subject to Meta's own privacy terms. Answers to open-ended puzzles may be sent to OpenAI for automated scoring; they are not used to identify you.
As AMARIA is established in France, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States by these providers. Such transfers are made under the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete it, we remove your record within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. To do any of these, email [YOUR EMAIL] from the address associated with your account, or message us on WhatsApp from your registered number.
Under the GDPR and the French Loi Informatique et Libertés you also have the right to object to processing, to restrict it, and to data portability. If you believe we have mishandled your data, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority, at www.cnil.fr.
Children
BrainText is intended for university students and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
